4) Into the Inferno

In this  documentary , filmmaker Werner Herzog and volcanologist Clive Oppenheimer explore some of the most powerful volcanoes in the world. The duo travels to various corners of the planet, including North Korea, Ethiopia, Iceland and the Vanuatu archipelago, talking to locals and scientists in search of a deeper understanding of these volcanoes.

 

5)  Gold and Greed  (Gold)

A great recommendation for those who enjoy mining and cinema, Gold tells the story of the discovery of the largest gold deposit in Busang, Indonesia, in the mid-1990s. The film shows the day-to-day life of a mining exploration team where workers search for a gold deposit. Although it is very informative and based on a true story, many aspects of the film are adapted, so not all of the plot is true.

6) The Dig

The film The Dig tells the story of British woman Edith Pretty, who hires excavator Basil Brown (Ralph Fiennes) to uncover the treasures beneath her land on the Sutton Hoo estate, near Suffolk, in the United Kingdom.

Excavations began in 1939 and as the project progressed, several artifacts were found underground, which led to the discovery that Edith's property contained a burial ship that was approximately 1,400 years old.

In total, 263 precious objects were unearthed, including helmets with human faces, weapons, household utensils and coins. At 27.4 meters long, the vessel was the largest ever found buried in the ground and was considered one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century.

 

7) Naked Mountain Range

In the Brazilian plot, Juliano (Juliano Cazarré) and Joaquim (Júlio Andrade) are great friends who become excited when they learn about Serra Pelada, the largest open-pit mine in the world, located in the state of Pará. The duo decides to leave São Paulo and head to the place, dreaming of becoming rich. However, shortly after arriving, everything changes in their lives: Juliano becomes a gangster, while Joaquim leaves behind the values ​​he always cherished.
